For a long time, Clint Barton had been seen by many as either the boring Avenger or the pointless Avenger. Alongside a team comprised of super soldiers, Hulks, demigods, and more, a guy with a bow and arrow didn’t really feel like he was in the same league.

However, it wasn’t just the fighting ability that Clint brought to the table. While he absolutely turned his bows and arrows into more than the sum of their parts, particularly the devastating trick arrows he had in his arsenal, he was often the glue that held the team together.

Look at his Avenging history. When he was under Loki’s control, Loki won, until he came back to the Avengers in which case the Avengers won. They defeated Ultron with Clint on the team, lost to Thanos when Clint wasn’t there, and beat the Mad Titan when he was back. No one else can boast a winning streak like that.

The greatest thing that could be said about Hawkeye, however, is pretty much everything Kate Bishop told him about how inspiring he is. He fearlessly stood his ground against aliens with nothing but a bow and arrow, he saved lives, he risked his own on multiple occasions, and whether he wanted to admit it or not, he was a damn hero.
