10 Greatest Movies Never Made
8. ISOBAR
Ridley Scott is most famous for his exploits in sci-fi. Classics of the genre such as Alien and Blade Runner were directed by his hand and in the late '80s he was given a script by Jim Uhls (who later wrote the adaptation of Fight Club) that was originally titled Dead Reckoning, before becoming ISOBAR, and later a host of other things.
ISOBAR was going to be a dark, futuristic thriller about a dangerous humanoid on the loose, and it was even described as "Alien, but on a train". So it seemed perfect for Scott, but he never officially signed on to do the movie. He was intrinsically involved in its development and continued mutation but other projects popped up and he swiftly moved on to Thelma and Louise with little explanation.
Even though Scott aborted the project, the concept and script remains highly regarded in Hollywood and numerous subsequent attempts at making the film have been foiled by a myriad of circumstances. Directors such as Roland Emmerich were linked with taking over and at one point, Sylvester Stallone and Kim Basinger were set to be the stars of the movie. With that bit of information, it's fair to say that the project drifted drastically from the film Scott envisioned.
