10 Greatest Religious Horror Movies Of All Time

3. The Omen

Exorcism of Emily Rose
20th Century Fox

In 1976, a film was released called The Omen. It is a haunting exploration of what would happen if the antichrist were born into our world and is considered to be an absolute horror classic. The movie follows an American ambassador named Robert Thorn. Horrendous death begins to occur around his child, and the revelation surfaces that he may be the son of the devil.

The legacy behind the film is just as fascinating as the product itself. There have been many titles in horror that have been speculated to be cursed. The Omen stands as one of the more interesting in this matter. Some horrific occurrences include lighting strikes, the untimely death of Gregory Peck's son two months before filming, and the special effects supervisor being involved in a car accident that resulted in his passenger being decapitated. The most haunting element about the last one was his reveal that a nearby street sign read Ommen, 6.66km.

Of course, the film isn't cursed. Tragedy and coincidence can surround any project, but at times it becomes more noticeable due to the intense subject matter.

The title fills itself with a haunted atmosphere that makes the narrative wholly engrossing . There is a reason that it has earned its reputation as a horror movie classic.
