7. Run Fatboy Run (2007) - Blister
Dennis Doyle (Simon Pegg) is an unfit, lazy man who has never been able to run anywhere, unless its away from commitment. At the beginning of the film he leaves his pregnant fiancée, Libby (Thandie Newton) at the altar. Five years later he still loves her, but she has a new man on the scene, a successful American man Whit (Hank Azaria), who has a passion for running. Dennis worries that he has lost Libby forever and decides to compete in the London Marathon alongside Whit.
It is during Dennis hilarious training that this scene occurs. In the middle of a run with coach and best friend Gordon (Dylan Moran), Dennis realises that he has a blister. Back at his flat, Gordon peels off Dennis socks to reveal a huge blister in the centre of his foot. A couple of light-hearted jokes are made and then Dennis says, "You're going to have to pop it." Gordon refuses, passing Dennis a sterilised nail and tells him to do it himself. He tries and tries but hes too scared. Gordon backs down and agrees to do it, but not in the gentle way that Dennis had wanted. He shoves the nail into the blister, causing Dennis to let rip a loud scream. He pulls his foot back, hoping for it to be over, but the nail is still protruding out, waiting to be removed. Gordon does this too, pulling the nail and releasing masses of white pus across his face, dripping down into his mouth.
