What Actually Happens

Former prison officer Paul Edgecomb recounts the story of the enormous John Coffey, a Death Row inmate wrongfully incarcerated for the rape and murder of two white pre-teen girls as a result of endemic racial prejudice.

The miscarriage of justice results in Coffey's execution - but not before he proves to his warden that not only is he innocent, but also, magic.

What Should Happen

Coffey takes the chair as sentenced, but at the last second, having seen the ginormous prisoner cure a woman's brain tumour and literally bring a mouse back to life, Warden Edgecomb twigs that maybe this latter-day saint should be spared the corresponding crucifixion.

Coffey walks free, going on to enjoy moderate success doing parlour tricks with a rodent.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
