10 Hidden Comedy Horror Movie Gems Of The Last Decade

6. Fried Barry (2020)

Fried Barry
Shudder

Written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Ryan Kruger, Fried Barry is a monstrously bizarre, sensory-shattering South African film which is set to become a modern-day cult classic.

Barry (a menacing Gary Green) is a hopeless drug addict who spends his days arguing with his wife and injecting heroin. One night, however, he’s abducted by an alien that wishes to use his body to explore the streets of Cape Town. From here, the inhabited Barry wanders the night streets, glazy-eyed and barely responsive, and finds himself in increasingly bonkers situations.

Featuring psychedelic sequences, a spontaneous pregnancy, and a murderous psychopath, it’s impossible to know what sort of lunacy awaits viewers next in this extra-terrestrial odyssey of sex and violence.

This film won't be for everyone, though. Fried Barry is full of plenty gross-out moments which take great pleasure in indulging in their deviancy, with sex and drugs being the least of your worries. But if you think you can handle the unpleasantness of Barry’s escapades, then you’re bound to have a riotous time here.

Everything about this flick’s presentation is over-the-top and as grimy as Barry’s antics. It’s a twisted and wicked ride that only gets more insane as the night continues.
