13 Beloved is a Thai horror comedy that spawned a film that you may know better, 13 Sins with Mark Webber. The original, however, is a little different.

A down-on-his-luck salesman receives a call telling him that he can earn some quick money by completing a very simple task. He just has to swat a fly and instantly he gets transferred the equivalent of about three hundred and thirty dollars. Easy enough, right?

As soon as he completes the task, he receives another phone call instructing him to eat the fly for more money. And here begins the downward spiral as the missions become increasingly immoral and intense.

As his friends and the police become concerned about what is going on, the game is revealed to go much deeper than we ever expected and our protagonist is forced to debate how far he can go for the money.

It’s a set-up that has been done before but doesn’t play into tired stereotypes, staying engaging throughout.
