10 Hilarious Actor Pranks (That Went Too Far...)

2. Jonah Hill Basically Poisoned Leonardo DiCaprio - The Wolf Of Wall Street

Jonah Hill took what, in the landscape of big-time film making, could be seen as a pay cut to play his role of Donnie Azoff in The Wolf of Wall Street with a fee of (just) $60,000 compared to Leonardo DiCaprio’s reported $25 million, up front, for his leading role as Jordan Belfort.

The film is famed for its commitment to abandoning all notions of respectability and class to shine a light on the underworld of Wall Street, and included some fairly rough scenes between Hill and DiCaprio, which the latter naturally committed to a little too much for his co-star. He basically beat the sh*t out of him.

Hill did, however, get his own back on DiCaprio in one scene that required the actors to sit around a table and eat sushi while discussing the inevitable truth that their business relationship must come to an end.

Jordan asks Donnie if he is going to eat the last piece of raw yellowtail and instead of following the script, Hill improvised the line "No, buddy, it’s all yours" kicking off some brutal enforced method acting for DiCaprio. Clearly, Hill knew saying yes would mean he'd have to eat the piece of sushi for as many takes as Martin Scorsese wanted, so he swerved and that esteemed honour fell to DiCaprio.

He then spent the evening throwing up in between takes, thanks to an inevitable bout of food poisoning.

Mercury poisoning, caused by eating too much yellowtail can lead to memory problems and muscle weakness. Not exactly ideal if you’re job is to remember your lines and body-pop on your wedding night.
