10 Hilariously Awful DVD Covers

7. Sl8 N8

This Belgian-Dutch horror film might have been lucky enough to have some of the make-up crew who did the effects on the Lord of the Rings films (yes, really), but they couldn't seem to rope in some good photo artists too, it seems. If the overall design isn't groan-inducingly derivative - villain is out of shot, holding a weapon close to the camera in a dingy locale, so original - the stylisation of the film's title is enough to give a rocket scientist a headache, just trying to work out what it's supposed to mean. SL8 N8: Slaughter Night? What? Yes, we're assuming something must've gotten lost in the translation, because somehow the guys behind this film have tried to numer-ise their title by suggesting that "SL8 N8" sounds anything like "Slaughter Night". The result is, of course, absolutely risible, and even for the rock-bottom stands of direct-to-DVD horror films, this one doesn't make the grade.
