10 Horror Films Set At Halloween To Scare You Perfectly In The Mood

2. Halloween III: Season Of The Witch

Halloween III was disappointing to fans of the first two because it doesn't have Michael Myers in it, but putting that aside, it's one of the greatest and most festive Halloween movies out there, more so than even the original. If you love Halloween, it's hard not to watch this with a huge smile on your face.

The idea was that the series was going to turn into an anthology franchise where every movie would be a different story set on Halloween night. For that reason, you don't even have to have seen the first two films to enjoy this one; it's completely standalone. The plot is that a company named Silver Shamrock is manufacturing Halloween masks which, as it turns out, kill anyone who wears them.

How awesome is that? It's a clever idea because really, kids do put a lot of faith in the people who manufacture these masks every October. In terms of setting the mood, there's the children running around in silly costumes as the sun sets and that eerie feeling rushes in, plus the incredibly catchy "Happy Halloween" song which should become the "12 Days of Christmas" of this holiday. It also touches on the history of Halloween in an interesting way, and what other horror film is there with the guts to have kids' heads being eaten alive by insects?
