In a prequel to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, is anyone really going to outlast the Sawyer family, Final Girl or not? The answer to that question, unsurprisingly, is no. And Lizzy learns that the hard way.
Beginning as a nurse who forms a bond with the incarcerated Jackson at Gorman House Youth Reformery, the pair are taken captive by escapees Ike and Clarice when a riot breaks out thanks to a vengeful Verna Sawyer - who wants to break her son out and return him to the family home. Lizzy is timid and innocent, ready for her Final Girl transformation in blood and gore as she undergoes traumatising adventures with her mental patient pals, finally learning that Jackson is in fact Jedidiah Sawyer - Leatherface himself - when his family reclaim him late on in the movie.
Learning his true heritage, Jackson snaps under pressure and is handed a chainsaw, which he happily uses on his old pal Lizzy.
She went through hell to rightfully earn her spot in the denoument, but prequel trappings dictate there can be no loose ends. And Lizzy would have been one hell of a loose end.
