10 Horror Monsters That Became The Star Of The Show

7. Hannibal Lecter

Michael Myers
Orion Pictures

Talk about stealing the show. The Silence of the Lambs isn’t even about Lecter. He’s a supporting character with only sixteen minutes of screen time and yet, every quoted line is one of his. Not to mention the Oscar Hopkins won for the role, which quickly became one of the defining characters of his extensive career.

Lecter is charming, intelligent, so witty. He uses his charm as a predatory weapon, making the reason he’s so dangerous the exact reason we like him so much. When he strolls to sun-drenched freedom, certain to feast on his former jailer, we couldn’t be happier. The movie makes a happy ending of the escape of a maniac cannibal, and we eat it up.

Sequels, prequels, tv-series, again and again, we come back for more Lecter.
