10 Horror Monsters That Became The Star Of The Show
2. Michael Myers
Michael Myers was ‘the shape’ of evil. A blank and
relentless killer, without motive or mercy. In the original Halloween, Myers
was a mystery. He had no identity, no voice, no face. He was a void, driven
only by evil. On his blank shape, audiences were able to imprint whatever
version of evil their imaginations could conjure.
For a person who by design has no characteristics, audiences sure do love him.
Myers was notably absent in Halloween 3: The Season of the Witch. Fans kicked off. Though the producers didn’t realise it, Michael Myers was the defining feature of the series. By the next movie he was back. To appease and reassure fans, the presence of Myers was cooked right into the title, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers.
Undeniably, Halloween also gave us a classic heroine in Laurie Strode. A character who Jamie Lee Curtis returns to every twenty years or so, to give us what is essentially another go at Halloween 3. Her appearances have usually marked peaks in quality.
Regardless, Michael Myers is the icon and it’s him people
have come to see, through regrettable sequels, remakes, reboots, re-launches
and the rest. He is the legend and people turn out in droves to see him doing
his thing.
