10 Horror Movie Answers Fans Had To Wait For

1. Everything About Jigsaw - Saw

John Kramer, aka Jigsaw, has become such an icon, it's easy to forget how little was disclosed about the architect-turned-killer in 2004's Saw.

In the closing moments, it's revealed John was diagnosed with a brain tumour, causing him to develop a twisted appreciation of life. Believing that humanity only count their blessings when death is imminent, he kidnaps people he deemed ungrateful and placed them in personalised death traps, forcing them to shed blood to survive.

Since the first film only shows the bare bones of John's philosophy, he still comes across as utterly demented. After watching the franchise as a whole, though, it's challenging not to side with him - despite all the murder- and every follow-up feels less like a tacked-on sequel and more like another piece to a jigsaw puzzle (no pun intended).

Throughout the gory saga, we learn about Jigsaw's former job, his family, the significance behind his puppet, how he formulated his philosophy, and his plan to maintain his legacy after he dies. These details never feel superfluous, since they highlight how John was moulded into a mass murderer.

Though viewers were initially appalled by John's actions, the sequels helped turn him into one of the most popular antiheroes in horror.
