10 Horror Movie Characters That Didn't Deserve The Hate

4. Jeff Denlon - Saw III

Saw fans really, really don't like the third film's protagonist, Jeff Denlon (Angus Macfadyen), do they?

Jeff catches a lot of flak for several reasons: first off, he's slow to react when tasked with saving people from traps.

But considering the test subjects all had some involvement in the unjust court trial following his son's accidental death, he shouldn't be judged too harshly. Plus if we're being totally honest, he probably acts closer to how somebody in real life actually would in these situations.

Beyond that, Jeff is also loathed for refusing to forgive Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) in his final test, instead cutting his throat with a circular saw.

This kills Jigsaw and inadvertently triggers a bomb which also kills his wife Lynn (Bahar Soomekh), while resulting in their daughter being locked away within Jigsaw's compound.

But again let's not forget what Jeff has been through: the guy lost his son in a drink driving accident and has quite understandably been stewing in a depressed rage about it ever since.

Did that trauma really make him worthy of being one of Jigsaw's test subjects in the first place? Ehhh.

More than almost any other Saw victim, Jeff is relatable precisely because he's a flawed person who won't let go of his anger in a totally believable, realistic way.
