10 Horror Movie Franchises With Only One Great Movie

4. The Omen

Final Destination
Fox

If you have children, first of all, my sincerest apologies.

Second of all, you will probably have had days when your children were so badly behaved you suspected they were the antichrist. However, unless their name is Damien and they're the star of 1976's The Omen, chances are they're not.

Written by David Seltzer, this creepy little number did gangbusters at cinemas and ranked amongst the highest-grossing movies of the entire year. It also earned its place in horror movie folklore, thanks to iconic scenes like Damien's nanny hanging herself.

The series could easily have stopped here, but clearly the antichrist was stronger than expected because somehow four more Omen movies got made.

Damien: Omen II checks in with the little guy in his teenage years, as he realises that he is actually the devil incarnate. Omen III was still rubbish even with Jurassic Park's Sam Neill now playing Damien, and Omen IV moved the action completely away from the boy and onto a little girl who had been chosen to succeed him.

All of these films were terrible and a 2006 remake paled in comparison to the original. Nice try, series, but not good enough.
