10 Horror Movie Heroes Everyone Forgets About

6. Tommy Jarvis - Friday The 13th

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer
Paramount Pictures

Tommy Jarvis is the closest thing Jason Voorhees ever had to a proper rival, and serves as the protagonist for the fourth, fifth, and sixth entries in the Friday the 13th saga.

When their feud begins, Jarvis is just a 12-year-old boy, so the odds aren't exactly stacked in his favour. Despite this sizeable disadvantage, he demonstrates clever thinking by shaving his head to mimic Jason as a youngster. This tricks Voorhees long enough for Jarvis to deliver a killing blow.

Naturally this ordeal is a lot to process for poor Tommy, who is institutionalised. As if he hasn't been through enough at this point, a copycat killer begins wreaking havoc and Tommy needs to deal with him too.

You'd think that might be the end and Tommy Jarvis could finally put Jason to rest and begin dealing with the mental scars he's been left with, but nope. Jason is resurrected, and once again Tommy has to handle it.

Friday the 13th has countless sequels and a reboot now, and with each entry in the franchise, Jason's kill count has continued to rise. Making it through three films in the franchise is an achievement in itself that only Jarvis holds.
