10 Horror Movie Heroes That Should Have Been Villains

8. Tommy Jarvis - Jason Lives: Friday The 13th Part VI

There are plenty of horrors that end with a cliffhanger that goes nowhere, such as The Predator. Alien: Covenant, the Cloverfield movies, and who could forget Friday the 13th: A New Beginning.

A New Beginning centres around a Tommy Jarvis left traumatised after witnessing one of Jason Voorhees' murder sprees when he was a child. Though Jason has been dead for years by this point, Tommy is convinced he's risen from the grave after a hockey mask-adorned manic begins causing chaos. Of course, this would be revealed as a copycat, Roy Burns.

Even though Tommy should rest easy at the end of A New Beginning, the final scene shows him donning a hockey mask and suggesting he's about to slaughter Pam, one of the movie's other survivors. This cliffhanger suggests Tommy may become the very evil he swore to destroy, though follow-up film Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI discards this idea entirely and instead resurrects Voorhees.

It may have been cool to see Jason being turned into somewhat of a superpowered zombie, but it could've been more fun to see Tommy become a full-on villain, especially since it was heavily implied he'd suffered a psychological breakdown and was about to take an innocent life at the end of A New Beginning.
