10 Horror Movie Monsters You Were Completely Unprepared For
Nobody was ready for these vile horror movie monsters.

There are certain tropes the horror community has come to expect while watching a monster movie. If it's a zombie flick, there's bound to be scenes of shambling corpses gorging on human flesh. If there's a werewolf in it, you can guarantee there'll be a shot of the antagonist sprouting fur and fangs under a full moon.
Despite the fact filmmakers try to put their own spin on ghosts, demons, and aliens, it's hard to craft a monstrosity that truly stands out. Even if the beast in question is brought to life with elaborate special effects, it can still come across as generic and forgettable.
But some monsters manage to leave everybody blindsided, either because of their innovative design, sudden reveal, or the fact they look nothing like how we expected. Other times, the creature is believed to be dead, so it catches everybody off guard when it mutates into something even more horrifying.
Even though there are times where horror veterans feel like they've seen every kind of behemoth imaginable, they were completely unprepared when they bore witness to the following gnarly creatures...
10. Rat Vampire - From Dusk 'Till Dawn

Robert Rodriguez's action-packed crime thriller From Dusk Till Dawn follows two criminal brothers who seek refuge in a bar. Little do they know the sleazy saloon is infested with crazed vampires.
Heavily outnumbered, gun-toting bank robber, Seth Gecko (George Clooney), allies with anybody he can find, including a biker called Sex Machine. Sadly, the codpiece-wielding badass is turned shortly after.
While gnashing at Seth, Sex Machine has his head ripped off with a whip. Though this isn't the traditional way to dispose of a vamp, Sex Machine seems done for, especially after he gets an arrow through his decapitated skull.
But since Sex Machine wasn't exposed to a wooden stake, holy water, or sunlight, the aptly named bloodsucker is far from finished. While Seth turns his attention to the remaining ghouls, Sex Machine blooms a new head and transforms into a rat creature.
This turn of events is shocking in its own right, but it's extra effective thanks to the astounding practical effects. (The dinosaur-like roar that Sex Machine lets out is the cherry on top.)
The overgrown rodent is executed moments later, but Sex Machine's metamorphosis is a major highlight, which is saying a lot, considering From Dusk 'Till Dawn has plenty of quality moments.
