10 Horror Movie Sequels That Don't Fit Their Franchise

Going down in horror movie history famously as the only Halloween film not to feature Michael Myers, Laurie Strode, Samuel Loomis or any of the continuity from the rest of the series, Season Of The Witch follows the very different storyline of an evil cult and their devious plan to kill children using a variety of halloween masks.

When John Carpenter and Deborah Hill first developed the original story of Halloween, they wanted to create an anthology of individual films set around the Halloween season, with Season Of The Witch kicking this trend off.

And whilst the reintroduction of Michael Myers in 1988's Return of Michael Myers did bring with it some really creative, and some truly terrible, entries into the franchise, one thing they did all have in common was their knife-wielding silent slasher.

Season Of The Witch features no goofy bedsheet tricks, no crazy final girl circuits and no boogeyman going for it, but the film is probably better than most people give it credit for. The acting is noticeably better across the board than most slasher flicks, and the absolutely horrific premise keeps the stakes raised higher than any slasher villain could do on his own.
