10 Horror Movie Villains Everyone HATED

1. Frank - Barbarian

And finally, we have a character who couldn't be much easier to hate - the man responsible for basically every stomach-churning thing that happens in Barbarian, Frank (Richard Brake).

In the film's second half, we're introduced to Frank as the owner of the Detroit rental house within which the bulk of the story occurs. Frank is subsequently revealed to be a serial killer who abducts women, forcibly impregnates them, and then presumably kills them. Worse still, the monstrously deformed woman who prowls around Frank's house is said to be the result of Frank committing incest with the spawn of his victims.

It's nauseating stuff, and played with sinister relish by the brilliant Richard Brake, who has basically spent the last few decades being the genre's go-to casting pick for skin-crawling creepers (and that's intended as a pure compliment here).

There's no moment to savour Frank's inevitable demise, though, as he simply shoots himself dead once he realises his number is finally up.

A too-quick escape for someone who inflicted so much suffering on the world.
