10 Horror Movies That Are Finally Happening
9. Lure
The most recently announced project on this list, this month brought word that The Nun's Corin Hardy has been tasked with helming Lure for Platinum Dunes and Universal Pictures.
While the title in itself may mean nothing to eager horror hounds, Lure will finally shine a cinematic spotlight on one of the most notoriously haunted buildings in the United States.
Of course, fans of horror movies often have a broader interest in all things spooky. In that regard, it doesn't get much more spooky than Natchez, Mississippi's King's Tavern.
For those who enjoy diving into real-life hauntings and the like, the King's Tavern name will set off all sorts of alarm bells. Said to be haunted by several nefarious spirits, this is a building which had the skeletal remains of three bodies once found behind a fireplace. Likewise, one of these bodies is believed to be the mistress of the tavern's original owner; a mistress who was murdered by the owner's wife.
Built in 1769, the King's Tavern was remarkably still open as recently as 2020, with it then operating as a bar and restaurant. From countless staff and visitor reports, though, there were plentiful ghost sightings and general sinister sounds ringing out through the locale.
