10 Horror Movies That Are Finally Happening

8. The Nun 2

Considering there's three Annabelle films already - two of which are pretty damn dreadful - it seems only right that The Nun should at least get a sequel. And thankfully, that is indeed the case.

As a wider franchise, the Conjuring Universe is very much a mixed bag. While James Wan's The Conjuring is a modern-day horror classic, the series has never quite reached those heights since, and there have been some total stinkers with the likes of The Curse of La Llorona and the first Annabelle offering.

Still, The Nun was one of the better outings for this shared cinematic realm, with Corin Hardy's 2018 picture delivering enough gothic charm, tension and impressive performances to warrant a follow-up to this Taissa Farmiga-starrer.

There were some narrative issues in the 1950s-set first Nun picture, but with Farmiga back as Sister Irene, that hopefully bodes well for a sequel that's simply titled The Nun 2. And yes, once more along for the ride with Taissa will be Bonnie Aarons as the physical presence of Valak, aka the titular nun who was responsible for so much terror and tension throughout The Nun and certain other Conjuring Universe movies.

Interestingly, this September 2023 release will also have Jonas Bloquet's Maurice returning, with that character previously shown to connect the events of The Nun to the events of the first Conjuring movie and to Ed and Lorraine Warren.
