7. Evil Dead Rise

With it somehow now ten years since Fede Alvarez impressed with his 2013 Evil Dead reboot, franchise fans are finally getting to see Deadites back on the silver screen.

Sure, Ash vs. Evil Dead was an absolute blast, but there's still something magnificently menacing about seeing the world of Evil Dead return to movie theatres across the globe.

While a proposed direct sequel to Alvarez's '13 film unfortunately spun its wheels in development hell before completely stalling, this latest venture into the Evil Dead series promises to deliver a completely new tale as two sisters do their best to save their family from the demonic, demented presence of evil which has haunted the franchise since the first Evil Dead outing back in 1981.

Written and directed by The Hole in the Ground's Lee Cronin, it's yet to be revealed whether Evil Dead Rise will have any particular ties to the prior movies - bar, y'know, Deadites doing creepy Deadites things - but the promotional material and trailers for Rise are utterly terrifying.

So, not just are fans getting to see the Evil Dead IP once again take its place in cinemas next month, but it looks like Evil Dead Rise may well be the most chilling outing for the franchise yet.
