10 Horror Movies That Missed Out The Money Shot

7. Hoffman's Comeuppance - Saw 3D

With it revealed at the end of Saw IV how Costas Mandylor's Detective Mark Hoffman was actually an apprentice of Jigsaw's, the rogue copper's nefarious antics would play out across the next three films before eventually coming to an end at the close of the seventh movie in the series, Saw 3D.

Having seen Hoffman cause so much murderous chaos once the cat was let out of the bag during Saw IV's finale, it was a total - no pun intended - cop out to not show the character's downfall in all its glory.

That downfall came about after Hoffman had killed Jill Tuck, the wife of Jigsaw, for her want to expose the truth of his crimes. With Jill dead, Mandylor's character is kidnapped by three pig mask-adorned sorts during the final moments of Saw 3D. There, it's revealed that Lawrence Gordon (Carly Elwes) of the original Saw picture was another of Jigsaw's apprentices, and he'd been instructed to kill Hoffman should anything ever happen to Jill.

As that seventh entry concludes, Hoffman is left alone to die in the same eerie bathroom where Gordon had spent so much of the first Saw movie. But that's it; there's no witnessing the true fate of the Detective. In fact, the only way you know for certain that Hoffman is dead, is if you happen to listen to Saw 3D's commentary track.
