10 Horror Movies That Really Needed A Better Villain
7. A Quiet Place
A Quiet Place is a largely great movie and quite decisively the best film on this list, no matter that its alien antagonists are actually kinda lousy.
The idea, of extraterrestrial interlopers who are blind and detect entirely through acute hearing, is terrific, so it's a shame that the aliens themselves basically just look like the most generic, garden variety Monsters we've all fought in dozens of sci-fi video games.
Or, if you want to be a bit more specific, they look a little too similar to the Demogorgons from Stranger Things.
The creatures are of course still tenacious, fearsome threats, but for as well-crafted as the movie is in basically every area, it's a letdown that the aliens themselves are so bland-looking.
Coming up with genuinely distinct aliens is a tough job these days for sure, but look at Arrival or most recently Nope, both of which delivered extraterrestrial designs that felt legit fresh.
