10 Horror Movies That Really Needed A Better Villain

6. Black Christmas (2019)

Alien Resurrection
Universal

The villain of both 1974's original Black Christmas and its 2006 remake is a deranged serial killer known only as Billy, but for 2019's most recent "reimagining," Billy is sadly nowhere to be seen.

In an attempt to deliver a more topical retelling of the campus-set slasher flick, the villains this time are a group of murderous frat boys who have been possessed by the spirit of the college's misogynistic founder, Calvin Hawthorne, who uses a magical black goo to take control of them.

Though there was easy thematic potential in a new take on Black Christmas focused around rape culture on college campuses, the whole goo cult concept was painfully unimaginative and on-the-nose.

A cult of misogynists who just hate women would've probably been fine, but black magic and weird goo? Nah.

Honestly, it might've just been best to bring Billy back into the fold. If it ain't broke, why "fix" it?
