6. Friday the 13th (2009)
Back in 2009, when all of the slasher icons were getting exhumed and trotted out in muted colours for a new generation, Marcus Nispel did the inadvisable and brought back Jason Voorhees for a reboot of Friday the 13th, with producer Michael Bay.
This time. Jason (Derek Mears) is the real villain of the piece, having watched his mother die at the hands of Alice Hardy (Adrienne King) back in 1980, and returned for, uhh, revenge, 30 years later, against a totally different group of teens. He stalks, he slashes, he stabs; you know the drill.
There's only one problem: this treads similar ground to the original movie we all know and love so well, and in which only one character gets out alive (Alice) - and that's only narrowly, after a fake-out ending in which she gets dragged into the Crystal Lake before waking up in a hospital, safe and sound. So, there's no surprise that Jason takes apart pretty much everyone in the Friday the 13th reboot.
