The Movie

Now the concept – basically, a comatose kid that becomes a vessel for all manner or scary spirits and demons – might sound a bit ludicrous, but don’t most horrors have a flimsy plot when viewed with a critical eye (and the lights on, of course)? But with James Wan, co-creator of the Saw series and director of the first and probably best instalment, at the helm there was a chance Insidious could be a decent horror.

Why You'll Never Watch it Again

While there were some genuine jump scares to Insidious – especially the creepy Victorian kid dancing along to the equally creepy song Tiptoe Through the Tulips – by the time a team of supernatural investigators turn up and explain some sh*t about astral projections and purgatory for evil spirits, the shock has worn off.

Throw in one of the most camp demons imaginable as the main antagonist in the latter half and you’ve got the recipe for a film that starts out promising but fizzles out in the finale.
