10 Horror Remakes Coming In 2019

Now, The Grudge - already an American remake of the Japanese Ju-On movies - was a pretty great movie. It was one of the better films taken from Japanese culture and altered to fit western audience tastes, retaining a Toyko setting and respecting the origin story far more than others of the same breed whilst still absolutely terrifying in its execution.

Truthfully, this could be largely attributed to Takashi Shimizu's position as director, since he was also the original creator of Ju-On and the one behind all of The Grudge films so far - that is, at least, until now. Shimizu is no longer involved with this remake of a remake, bringing a level of uncertainty as to what exactly we're going to get.

Whilst horror veteran Lin Shaye of the Insidious franchise will be on screen and has largely sung its praises as the scariest role she's ever had, it seems that the franchise will be taking a different direction to what fans have grown accustomed to. It's probably a good thing considering the age of the films don't really stand up as well to a modern audience - and in any case, hearing that horrible throat noise once more is sure to send shivers down both old and new audiences' spines.
