10 HUGE MCU Phase Four Fan Theories That Could Come True
5. Nick Fury Was Never Snapped
When Thanos snapped his fingers, it sent a ripple effect throughout the universe that saw 50% of the universe’s population dusted away. The heroes of Earth were left with just a fraction of their power after the Battle of Wakanda, and the man who brought the Avengers together in the first place was killed as well. Or was he?
His and Maria Hill’s deaths were the focus of the Infinity War post-credit scene as a way to tease Captain Marvel’s future appearance. Neither was seen again until Tony Stark’s funeral, and subsequently Spider-Man: Far From Home when it was revealed that they had actually been the Skrulls Talos and Soren ever since first meeting Peter Parker.
What if these Skrulls had been taking the place of Fury and Hill for far longer than previously thought? It has been revealed that the upcoming Secret Invasion, in which Nick Fury will be the main character, will be set during the five-year Blip. How could this possibly happen if Fury was dead? The prevailing theory could be that the Infinity War post-credit scene didn’t show Fury and Hill being snapped; it showed Talos and Soren.
There is no way of knowing exactly when the former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. swapped himself for his shapeshifting friend, or when he ultimately left Earth. If he was never snapped, and hadn’t yet left Earth, this could make perfect sense for how Secret Invasion will be set.
