While the first Minions movie was the weakest entry in the Despicable Me franchise, it still contained enough pure entertainment value to make it worthwhile.

It also made over a billion dollars, so naturally, a followup is on the way.

Currently set for July 2020, Minions 2 will see the title creatures causing mischief, making fart jokes, and laughing at anything that's even remotely funny. Because that's just what they do.

So far, the plot has remained a secret, but given that the first film ended with the Minions meeting Gru as a child, the pointy-nosed anti-hero has to appear at some point, right?

If nothing else, expect Minions 2 to be a harmless Sunday afternoon spent at the cinema. Also, expect it to inspire numerous 'relatable Minion' memes, which your mother-in-law will feverishly repost on her Facebook wall. Sigh.
