10 Huge WTF Movie Post-Credits Moments
5. Not All Movies Need A Post-Credit Scene - Scream 6
From its very first installment way back in 1996, the Scream franchise has enjoyed making incredibly meta jokes. It started with characters comparing events happening in the movie to other legendary horror franchises, while Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy) served as a constant reminder of the rules, and what should and shouldn't be happening at any given time.
This is something that has continued throughout the film series all the way through to Scream VI in 2023. Taking the baton from her Uncle Randy in a way, Mindy Meeks-Martin (Jasmin Savoy Brown) explained to the core group of the sixth Scream chapter even more rules.
These largely revolved around how the killer was taking inspiration from the Stab movies (the in-universe franchise based originally around the Woodsboro killings in the first Scream), how new characters were brought in to round out the suspect list and body count, and that they themselves were now in a franchise rather than just a sequel.
This brought with it a hilarious list of meta-rules and jabs at continuing movie franchises, however, she wasn't done. Mindy's rant was revisited for a total of four seconds in what was the first post-credit scene in the history of the Scream franchise, and it was used to tell the audience that not every movie needs a post-credit scene.
Wonderful, meta irony.
