To many, particular those who are into child friendly action capers, Jackie Chan is the little guy with the dodgy accent who easily defeats the bad guys in rubbish, tame movies. To those who have seen his pre-US work in Hong Kong, he is an innovative genius who did things that defied the laws of gravity. Police Story is his masterpiece, which features some of the most astounding stunt work ever captured on film. Chan repeatedly risked his life for the perfect stunt - he broke his pelvis and suffered second degree burns during the shoot. From the stunning opening car chase to the iconic climatic scene, Police Story is ridiculously enthralling. Chan's the guy that does everything for real and is passionate about martial arts movies, which is what makes his recent output that little bit more disappointing. He's worked with everybody from Bruce Lee (as an uncredited extra in Enter the Dragon) to Jet Li and is an underrated icon of Eastern cinema.
