10 Hugely Under-Rated Action Movie Stars

8. Vin Diesel

van diesel the ropesvindiesel600 Vin Diesel can't really act, and has been much mocked in the film press for it and his decision to try his hand at more child friendly movies. Despite being cast in Steven Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan, he has never really tried to go for the serious dramatic angle, wisely focusing on being a snarling bad-ass, something he's quite good at. But then he did The Pacifier and all the momentum he built with The Fast and the Furious and xXx was destroyed and he became a laughing stock. What followed was scarce appearances in films, including the Mathieu Kassovitz directed flop, Babylon AD and Sidney Lumet's atrocious Find Me Guilty. Diesel's career looked dead until he returned home to the Fast & Furious franchise for two more instalments with a third out in 2013. Fast and Furious was a commercial hit but was unfairly bashed by the critics, despite it being an enjoyably slick romp. The sequel though, Fast Five, received a large amount of acclaim for its action sequences and overriding testosterone levels. The clash between Diesel's character Dominic Toretto and The Rock's superhuman Luke Hobbs was one of the most enjoyable scenes of 2011, and Diesel throughout the film sent out a reminder that he is a force of a presence and great fun to watch when he is on form.
