10 Iconic Movie Scenes Made Possible By Enforced Method Acting

5. Michael Bay Set Up Various Measures To Ensure His Child Actor Would Be Terrified - Bad Boys II (2003)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_Y9SQhcIjw We'll start by saying that Bad Boys II is, above all, "A Michael Bay Movie," so you know exactly the kind of thing to expect: guns, explosions, and a whole lotta "booty" (I can't type that without putting that into quote marks, sorry). Most of the scenes in Bay movies require the use of pyrotechnics, which presumably means that - amidst the safety procedures and extensive planning - there's not that much room left over for method acting of the enforced kind. Bay did manage to induce one scene here with a giddy amount of enforced method acting, though: a scene where young Reggie (David Greene) comes to see Martin Lawrence's character to ask his daughter out was set up through some seriously sinister means. First off, Martin Lawrence's bouncer told Greene not to look Lawrence in the eyes or talk to him when they weren't shooting, 'cause he was crazy and didn't like it. This, of course, made the young actor extremely nervous, and Lawrence further enforced the notion of his "craziness" by acting faux-hostile towards Greene whilst they were setting up the shots. To make matters even more nail-bitingly awkward, Greene also wasn't told about the gun that Will Smith's character would threaten him with later in the scene, because they wanted to shit himself during that part, too. Hollywood, baby!
