Quickly going on to become one of the unexpected shining lights of the MCU in the wake of his side-splitting but still subtly heartbreaking display as part of the band of misfits known as The Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014, Dave Bautista's Drax the Destroyer also demanded many a fan's attention with his distinct appearance.

Opting to refrain from a t-shirt, the Kylosian could be seen sporting a whole host of intriguing markings all over his hulking frame. However, the MCU has spent next to no time explaining why these vibrant red tattoos were put there in the first place.

Well, according to director James Gunn, this ink actually represents a number of vital moments in Drax's tragic life. Each piece highlights a key memory for the blunt heavy of the Guardians, from the birth of his daughter, to his parents, to his marriage to his cherished wife, and many more. Which makes the fact his family were shockingly murdered before the events of GOTG that bit more painful to consume.

But outside of an outstanding deleted scene chopped from the aforementioned first Guardians solo flick, these touching tattoos and the serious dramatic weight and character depth that comes with them are barely alluded to.
