10 Important MCU Details That Are Almost Never Mentioned

9. New Asgard's MCU History

In the wake of Asgard being utterly massacred by Surtur in the closing stages of Thor: Ragnarok and much of the people of this godly land being dispatched by Thanos in the opening of Infinity War, Endgame sees the King of Asgard and his remaining loyal subjects set up shop in their new home of the ingeniously branded "New Asgard" on Earth in Norway.

But far from just being an appropriate nod to their Norse heritage, this little village of Tønsberg has actually been present in a few vital moments of MCU history in the years before its apparent Endgame debut.

Jumping back to the first Thor feature, Tønsberg is actually seen being invaded by the Frost Giants in 965 AD before Odin and his mighty army arrived to save the day. The then-King of Asgard made the odd decision to leave the Tesseract in this humble village for a few hundred years before the devious Red Skull showed up in 1942 in Captain America: The First Avenger to seize the all-powerful weapon from the very same locale.

With Tønsberg once again rocking up in the universe as recently as during the first season of What If?... during Captain Carter's episode, it's safe to say this town is much more important than is often made known to the casual MCU watcher.
