10 Incredible Movies With Just ONE Awful Scene
5. It Follows – Pool Finale
It Follows is a terrifying horror film and one of the finest of the 2010s. A nerve-shredding, excruciatingly creepy and brilliantly-made scare-fest, this one is so unnerving you’ll probably never watch it again, but there’s another important, but far less flattering reason why a re-watch might not be especially appealing and that’s the film’s awful finale.
The film’s climax involves the teenage protagonists coming up with a ludicrously foolish plan in which they try to lure the malevolent entity stalking protagonist Jay into a swimming pool and electrocute it. Look, we all know how dumb teenagers are in horror movies but even so. What on earth were they thinking?
Writer-director David Robert Mitchell has openly acknowledged how bad their plan was in interviews, so it’s a mystery as to why he still proceeded with this finale.
To make matters worse, this is also entirely un-scary compared to what came before and then the film doesn’t even bother to confirm whether or not the titular villainous entity is really dead afterwards.
