10 Incredible Movies With ONE Unnecessary Scene

6. The Samurai Movie Ends... On A Dance Number? - Zatoichi

The 2003 film, Zatoichi, follows a blind swordsmaster who takes it upon himself to protect a town after it's invaded by the yakuza. For the most part, this samurai flick goes exactly how you would expect. It's got beautifully fluid fighting sequences, sensational sword duels, and over-the-top gore.

But as we reach the climax, Zatoichi becomes a whole other movie. After the gangs are defeated, the townspeople celebrate... by tap-dancing. And this isn't a little scene. This is a heavily co-ordinated musical number that goes on for about five minutes.

Even though the dance routine is amazingly choreographed, it feels so disconnected to everything we've seen up until this point. Imagine if The Matrix ended with a ho-down. Picture John McClane breakdancing at the end of Die Hard. That's what this feels like! If you watched this scene out of context, you would never guess it was part of a samurai movie.

Despite the fact there are people who absolutely love this dance piece, there are many viewers who weren't sure if they were watching the same movie when this scene started.
