With recent high profile roles in Mission Impossible: Fallout, and The Mummy, Tom Cruise has never been bigger, so it makes sense that his earnings from Top Gun: Maverick are almost as much as the $15 million production budget the first film had.

The long-awaited Top Gun sequel already has a fantastic cast, and with Tom Cruise acting in a main role, the marketing is near enough done already. There are enough fans of Cruise himself to fill out a cinema regardless of the movie he's in.
