10 Insane MCU Rumours Everyone Wanted To Be True
3. Agent Coulson Becomes Vision - Avengers: Age Of Ultron
The Rumour
Fans were devastated when fan favourite character Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) met his demise courtesy of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in The Avengers an entire decade ago.
And so, after the film's release a persistent rumour took hold in the MCU's fandom that Coulson would return as Vision in a future film, his consciousness somehow being transported into the comics' iconic android superhero.
It'd certainly have immediately endeared audiences to the character, that's for sure.
What Actually Happened
Coulson was ultimately resurrected on the TV show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. through initially ambiguous means, and given the clear reluctance to have the series intersect overtly with the movies, Coulson's survival hasn't ever been directly mentioned in the mainline MCU.
Coulson's resurrection was confined to the TV realm, then, and Vision made his debut in Avengers: Age of Ultron as embodied by Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) AI J.A.R.V.I.S. (Paul Bettany).
While having Coulson become Vision would've been an interesting way to reintegrate him into the "proper" MCU without outright undoing his demise, it's hard to argue much with how things turned out given Bettany's brilliance in the role.
