10 Insane Movie Cameos Everybody Forgets About

4. Cate Blanchett - Hot Fuzz

Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back Mark Hamill

What makes Cate Blanchett's cameo in Edgar Wright's countryside crime caper different from most others on this list is in the detail, or lack of it.

For you see (or don't), unless you've got the image of her unmasked face ingrained in your mind, it's hard to tell it's actually her. Just look at that heading picture, for instance.

After dejected officer, Simon Pegg's Nicholas Angel, is told he's being promoted/redeployed to the West country, he breaks the news to his ex-girlfriend, Janine.

What makes this funnier (or tragic, considering) is the irony of it being a deeply emotive moment, and her face is covered. Edgar Wright is a stickler for details, so this is more than likely an intentional feat, which makes it all the more special in 2007 epic. Blanchett delivers a powerful mini-performance, right before Pegg, who's all business, points out a glaring flaw in their work.

BONUS CAMEO: For the more observant of you, keep your eyes peeled for Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson as a stabby Santa Claus.
