5. Indiana Jones Spends The Entire Movie Wasting Away From Radiation Poisoning In The Fridge - Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
The reason that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is not recognized as a fun and very entertaining movie baffles me because the movie is actually a lot of fun to watch and is a nice piece of looking back at the wonder that is the Indiana Jones franchise. It takes an optimistic look at Indys future, and takes some deliciously crazy turns with its ending. This is completely put into the fantastical realism of the previous films, and not just the fantasy of the new one, with the theory that in the early scene in the movie where Indy tries not to die in a nuclear bomb test by hiding in a refrigerator, he not only doesnt get out alive, but he becomes stuck in the fridge, imagining the rest of the movie inside of the fridge while he slowly wastes away from radiation poisoning. Unlike the rest of this article, where it makes the movies more poignant and more heartfelt, this one is saddening because of the amount of connections to the earlier movies, especially the first film, and the ways it all wraps up with most ambiguous ends of Raiders, when the movie is seen in this context it is a regretful head trip of pain for Dr. Jones, and it is actually a really sad and haunting story of days gone by. I dont think Ill ever watch this movie the same way again.
