8. Drag Me To Hell Is About Christine's Eating Disorder
Allison Lohman's character of Christine gets thoroughly put through the wringer in Sam Raimi's delightfully yucky horror flick Drag Me to Hell, beginning when she denies a loan to a gypsy woman, and ends up cursed, with various food and mouth-related incidents befalling her, such as having vomit sprayed all over her face, and an eye staring at her out of her slice of cake. The theory posits that these events, in fact, are simply a byproduct of Christine's mental illness, that she is suffering from bulimia, and seemingly not coping very well with her demons. What backs this up? Well, it's mentioned during the film that before she became the rather radiant young woman she is today, Christine was considerably overweight as a youngster. Given her rather svelte, slender frame now, she could have had a little help by purging rather than weight-watching.
