Of all the insane reasons movies were nearly shut down, The Omen holds the distinction of being the craziest. The man who pitched the concept to the studio started going around to warn everyone involved that "The Devil didn't want the picture to be made."

Of course, this was after he signed the contract, but still... creepy.

After that warning, things started happening all around the cast and production, which would make an atheist stop and take notice. Two months before shooting began, Gregory Peck's son shot himself, and two months after that happened, his plane was struck by lightning.

Less than a month later, the Executive Producer's plane was also struck by lightning, and while that's maybe a coincidence, the London hotel where that producer was staying was bombed by the IRA shortly after he left. Later, John Richardson, the FX artist responsible for the decapitation scene, was in a severe car accident.

He wasn't seriously hurt, but his passenger, Liz Moore, was decapitated in much the same way as the character in the film met their end.

Finally, a plane that was hired to transport the crew, but was swapped out at the last minute, crashed, killing everyone on board.

Maybe the Devil really did have a problem with the movie...
