10 James Bond Gadgets We Wish Were Real

4. Walther PPK With Palm Reader - Skyfall

Gadget: Yes, I€™m breaking another of my own rules by including a weapon, but this one is new and therefore better (at least according to one of Barney Stinson€™s rules). It does have real-world use, but first let€™s discuss its existence in the Bond universe. By now you€™ve no doubt seen the clips in the trailers where 007 meets Q - played by Ben Winshaw - for the first time in the Craig-era Bond films. You€™ve probably also thought his new gun looked badass, unless that was just me. Now, since we haven€™t seen the movie yet (unless you€™re a reviewer) we can only speculate how it will come into play, but a gun with a palm reader coded to the owner looks pretty sweet to me. Real World Application: The most obvious use for this is as a new form of gun registration or safety. Now, before any gun-nuts - sorry, €œaficionados€ - get all riled up that I€™m advocating super crazy gun-control, I€™m merely suggesting using this gadget as a safety mechanism to code your new gun to yourself, thus preventing anyone else - a mugger, or I dunno, a child perhaps? - from firing your gun. If you wanted to go as far as gun registration and identification, you could, although I€™d expect quite an argument. Law enforcement would also likely benefit from this technology as well.
