10 Legacy Sequel Movies Everyone Actually Wants To See
3. The Goonies 2
1985's action-adventure classic The Goonies was a phenomenal commercial success upon release, enough that a sequel seemed like a pure slam-dunk proposition.
And yet, for reasons that have never been made entirely clear, Warner Bros. hasn't ever expressed much interest in a sequel, and with various actors wavering on their enthusiasm for The Goonies 2 over the years, it's just never quite come together.
With director Richard Donner passing away last summer, the outlook now looks even more bleak for the sequel ever getting made, despite the fact that many of its young stars are now considerably more famous.
A legacy sequel led by Josh Brolin, Sean Astin, and Jonathan Ke Huy Quan - the latter of whom is having quite the comeback moment per his fantastic performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once - as they team up with their own kids on another adventure basically writes itself.
While it wouldn't surprise anyone if a direct-to-streaming reboot series was made in the future, fans really want a straight-up continuation that pays firm tribute to Donner's iconic original vision - not a soulless retread banking on brand recognition alone.
