8. Get The Whole Cast In
Another result of cramming the whole first season into a short film, but it has to be said. Half the cast were missing. The characters we meet as we traverse the world with Aang are the lifeblood of the world. Without them, the world is soulless. Well, you know that if you've seen the film.
These minor characters are necessary in developing the personalities of the protagonists, too. It is the small encounters that build Aang, Katara and Sokka up to the heroes they are at the end.
A key character missing from the movie was Jet, a Robin Hood type outlaw who lives in the forest. His innate hatred of the fire nation leads to him to doing some pretty evil things, and our protagonists' involvement with him is hugely effective in their character development.
