6. Alpha Flight

One of the few Canadian teams in comics, Alpha Flight has been around since 1979. Commonly viewed as the Canadian Avengers, Alpha Flight works for Department H, which is a branch of the Canadian government that deals with super-powered baddies.

Led by Guardian, Alpha Flight's lineup rivals, at least, that of Guardians of the Galaxy. Heroes like Sasquatch, Snowbird and Puck would be visually interesting and have compelling origins. Alpha Flight member Northstar, specifically, is a comics trailblazer.

He is the first openly gay character in comics. What better way for Marvel to promote true diversity than a team with a small person, a huge mammal, a proud homosexual and a guy who is, essentially, the Canadian Captain America at the helm? Box office gold.
